Description
He is also known as ‘Jack in the Green’, the keeper of the forests and woodland. In Pagan tradition he captures the spirit of the ancient woodland, symbolising the cycle of life in birth, death and re-birth. He is a force that is protective and commanding. He is honoured at Beltane, the Gaelic May Day, representing the peak of spring and the beginning of summer.
