Azure Dragonfly WIPs
This sun catcher design is inspired by the 'Azure' damselfly, one of the British dragonfly species with bright blue-green metallic colourings, she is a shimmering beauty! She is adorned with rainbow fluorite, labradorite, table-cut glass and Czech glass beads. Her frame is made with many metres of soft copper wire, shaped to follow her pretty contours.
The photographs above show the dragonfly construction complete, in a raw copper state, ready for dipping in the liver of sulphur solution. Once blackened and dried, she is polished to reveal the warm coppery highlights on the raised surfaces on the design, and then sealed with a protective glossy varnish to retain the shine. She comes to life in a sunny window, and also loves to sunbathe on the patio!
